The Roast
Jo Bird, huh? "Brand Consultant + (TEDx) Speaker 🎤"? Wow, when did LinkedIn become a high school talent show? You help "founders & creatives own their unique brand story"? Let me guess, you think you're some kind of brand therapist? Newsflash: just because you worked at Gymshark doesn’t mean you’re a powerhouse. It’s more like you were in the gym locker room, schmoozing instead of doing any real heavy lifting. Your "About" section reads like a self-help book for people who can’t find their own reflection in the mirror. "If you're feeling invisible or ignored"? Come on! I thought you were supposed to be a brand consultant, not a motivational poster stick-on. With phrases like "I help you stand out for all the right reasons," you sound less like a consultant and more like a bad infomercial. And claiming to hold a mirror up to businesses? What’s next, a mirror selfie to prove you have friends? Spoiler alert, Jo: the only thing dazzling here is your delusion. 💀 With all the "transformative" buzzwords in your bio, I’m surprised you didn’t include "master of self-promotion" somewhere, Jo Bird from JustJoBird. I guess when you’re building a brand, you really do have to start with the biggest brand of all: yourself.

Okay, but seriously... here are some tips:

  • Tip 1: Ditch the cliches and reframe your "About" section with actual value propositions that show your expertise without sounding like a TED Talk wannabe.
  • Tip 2: Remove the excessive buzzwords and focus on clearer, more impactful statements about what you really do and how you’ve helped specific clients.
  • Tip 3: Stop calling yourself a "founder" of what’s basically a glorified blog. Showcase tangible achievements instead of an inflated follower count—let your work speak for itself!
