The Roast
Ozan, “Researcher in bioinformatics” – wow, that headline hits as hard as a wet noodle. If you’re trying to stand out, you might as well have called yourself “Guy Who Googles Stuff About Genes.” A headline should make people want to connect, not hit the snooze button. And don’t even get me started on your About section — or should I say the grand canyon of emptiness? It’s so blank, it looks like the WiFi went out while you were writing it. Literally, did you think your career would sell itself with zero content? You’ve got a thousand followers and just as many connections, and I wouldn’t be surprised if half of them are your mom’s friends. You’ve bounced around postdoctoral positions so much, it looks like you’re trying to collect them like Pokémon cards. And a whole year at Inserm? That's not quite the rousing career story you think it is. You might want to keep your "Assistant Professor" badge pinned to your shirt, but two months at Yıldız isn’t exactly a tenure-track trophy. You need to get real before the only thing you’ll be researching is how to update your resume. 💀 Ozan, with a headline like that and an About section that’s a blank canvas, I can only guess your research specialty is figuring out how to make yourself invisible.

Okay, but seriously... here are some tips:

  • Revamp your headline to highlight your unique achievements or areas of expertise. Make it intriguing!
  • Write a compelling About section that showcases your journey and what you bring to the table. Don’t be afraid to inject some personality—you're not a robot!
  • Consider connecting with professionals in your field to increase your influence; aim for quality over quantity.
