Resize or crop any image to the exact size LinkedIn expects, then download it as a JPG. Pick a post, profile, Company Page or article format, add your image and adjust the frame. Everything happens in your browser: your image is never uploaded.

How to resize an image for LinkedIn

  1. Pick the format you need: a post image (portrait, square or landscape), your profile photo or cover image, a Company Page logo or cover, or an article cover.
  2. Add your image by dropping it on the tool, pasting it from your clipboard or clicking to upload.
  3. Crop or fit it. With Crop to fill, drag the image and zoom to choose what stays in the frame. With Fit whole image, the full image stays visible on a blurred, white or black background.
  4. Download the JPG and upload it to LinkedIn.

These follow LinkedIn Help's recommendations. For the profile photo, LinkedIn asks for at least 400 x 400 pixels, so the resizer exports at twice that for a sharper result.

Crop or fit: which one to use

Crop to fill works for photos, headshots and anything that can lose a little around the edges. The image covers the whole frame, so nothing looks empty in the feed.

Fit whole image works for screenshots, slides, charts and quotes, where cutting a corner would cut a word. The blurred background keeps the colors of your image, so the empty space doesn't look like a mistake.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about resizing images for LinkedIn

No. The resizer runs entirely in your browser: your image is drawn on a canvas on your own device and saved from there. Nothing is sent to MyFeedIn or stored.

1080 pixels wide is LinkedIn's recommendation. A portrait image at 1080 x 1350 (4:5) takes the most room in the feed, a square 1080 x 1080 works everywhere, and a landscape image at 1200 x 627 matches the link preview format. LinkedIn accepts ratios from 3:1 to 4:5 and crops anything taller.

Crop when the subject can lose a bit of its edges, like a photo or a headshot: the image fills the whole frame and you drag it to keep the right part. Fit when nothing can be cut, like a screenshot or a slide: the whole image stays visible on a blurred, white or black background.

Usually because it's too small, so LinkedIn stretches it. Start from an image at least as big as the format you pick. The resizer tells you when it has to enlarge your image, and exports a JPG under LinkedIn's upload limit for that format.

JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF files that your browser can open. The download is always a JPG, which is what LinkedIn recommends for Page images and what keeps the file under the size limit. iPhone HEIC photos need converting to JPG first.
